How to measure for custom size cuffs and collar.
Getting the correct fit is essential. This guide will show you how to measure a sub’s wrists, ankles and neck for the cuffs and collar.
I need 2 measurements for the wrist cuffs 2 for the ankle cuffs and 2 for collar size. I add a little wiggle room especially in the collar. Not enough for the sub to escape though. So don’t worry.
Americans… yes you can send measurements in inches.
The easiest way to do this is with a set of callipers.
Here you see my wrists measure 6.1 cm (61mm) by 4.5cm (45mm).
If you do not have a set of callipers.
These steps will guide you on how to measure without.
First you will need:
1 sheet of paper A4 is good.
1 pencil
1 ruler, tape measure or something else you can measure distance to the mm with.
1 sub
1 Place the sub’s wrist, ankle or neck on the paper.
2 Mark each side of the wrist, ankle or neck with the pencil.
Do not tape the pencil to the sub’s wrist.
I did this because I am measuring myself and I needed a free hand to take photos of the process.
You should now have 2 marks on the paper like this.
Measure the distance between the marks and write it on the paper.
Repeat the process with the wrist on the side.
